How do I know if my phone is eSIM-capable?

Most modern smartphones support eSIM technology. Before purchasing, make sure your device is eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked — you can check our list of supported devices.

The quickest check: dial *#06# on your phone. If an EID number appears, your phone is eSIM-compatible.

You can also check manually:

• On iPhone: go to Settings → Mobile Data (or Cellular) → Add eSIM. If this option appears, your phone is compatible.
• On Android: go to Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIMs (or SIM Card Manager) → Add eSIM. If this option isn’t available, your phone doesn’t support eSIM.

Please also check that your phone is SIM-unlocked, meaning it isn’t restricted to a single carrier:

• On iPhone: go to Settings → General → About and scroll to “Carrier Lock”. It should say “No SIM restrictions”. Alternatively, insert a SIM card from a different carrier — if it connects, your phone is unlocked.
• On Android: go to Settings → Network & Internet (or Connections) → SIM Card Manager, or check under Settings → About Phone for a “SIM lock” or “Network lock” status. You can also insert a SIM from a different carrier to see if it connects, or contact your carrier directly to confirm your phone’s lock status.

If your phone is locked, contact your current carrier to request an unlock before purchasing an eSIM.

Important: do not leave or exit the installation process at any point. If installation is interrupted, the eSIM will not be added and the QR code will no longer be valid.

My phone is eSIM-capable but network-locked — does it still work?

Accepted Answer

No. Your device must be SIM-free or unlocked, otherwise no third-party eSIM can be activated. This applies regardless of the provider.

Question 3

Can I use an eSIM on a tablet or smartwatch?

Accepted Answer

Tablets: yes, as long as the model has a cellular version and supports eSIM — you’ll find the supported iPads and Galaxy Tabs in our device list.

Smartwatches: no. Their eSIM profiles are paired to a mobile carrier and mirror your phone number, so they cannot take a travel data plan.
